Primary Mirror
Projects that host their infrastrure at the OSL get update access to our mirror network. By being able to push to ftp.osuosl.org and rsync.osuosl.org at local LAN speeds we are able to help shorten the time it takes to get releases from development servers out to mirrors and finally to end-users.
ftp.osuosl.org and rsync.osuosl.org are seperate machines each geared toward specific goals. ftp.osuosl.org is dedicated to end-users and thus gives access via ftp and http. rsync.osuosl.org is seperate hardware that is dedicated strictly to downstream mirrors. This is really handy during release cycles when end-user mirrors often get clobbered by too many users competing with mirrors for bandwidth. Since we have seperate hardware and seperate bandwidth caps on these machines we all but eliminate that problem.
